It's Really Happening!

It's happening...it's actually happening!

What started out as kind of a joke, "hey, can I go to Africa?" is becoming a reality tomorrow. Tomorrow I'll embark on the trip of a life time to Uganda. I am so lucky and blessed to be able to go on this trip. I can't even begin to put into words how excited I am to meet new people, experience a new culture, even teach a little bit, and get to see a little bit more of this world.

My bags are packed (surprisingly under the wait limit), until tonight when I'm trying to sleep and frantically think of everything I forgot. Tomorrow I'll be flying from Chicago to Detroit and then off to Africa! Don't get me wrong, I'm a little anxious about the 24+ hour flight, the mosquitoes, and simple things such as remembering not to drink the tap water. But I know the memories I'll make and the life long friends that I will get to know will far out weigh a few mosquito bites.

During my trip, I'm going to try my best to find the energy at the end of the day to update this blog with my thoughts, the days events, and maybe even a few pictures! So join me on the journey of a lifetime.
