Rough Day 5...

Tuesday May 22nd 7:10 pm

Today was an interesting day to say the least. We went to MUBS for breakfast and it was more of the same fruit and biscuit/cookie. After breakfast we went to Mulago, which is a hospital here. We specifically went to TASO, which is The Aids Support Organization in Uganda.

At TASO we had the opportunity to see the laboratory, talk to a data collector, and also a counselor. It was a very eye opening experience and one that must have affected me a little more than I originally thought. After leaving the main building we went to the Child Care Center. This is where the kids and moms can sit while waiting treatment. While standing in this center I began to not feel well and knew that I immediately needed to sit down.

Once I got outside I sat down and felt really light headed. The next thing I know I had passed out and was regaining consciousness. They put me in a wheel chair and wheeled me into a room where I could lay down in a bed. A doctor came, I drank some water, they took my blood pressure and pulse, and just allowed me to rest for a while. After I began feeling better Dr. Bishop took me back to Red Chili where I was able to get some rest.

Dani came back to switch with Dr. Bishop and we just continued to rest up. I ate some granola bars and drank some lemonade that we added electrolytes to. I’m feeling ten million times better and am up at the main area where I just ate some pizza. Mom and Dad please don’t freak out, but I will try to give you a call in a little bit to explain this more in depth to you.

So it was a rough day, but it was nice to have some down time. Tomorrow is going to be another sad day about human rights and a prison, however I think it will be more manageable because it won’t be medical based. I’m still thoroughly enjoying my time here and can’t wait to keep traveling and seeing more of this beautiful country.
